The white paper pointed out that China has basically built the world's largest social security system, including social insurance, social assistance, social welfare, and social special care, and is moving towards the goal of full coverage, basic protection, multi-level and sustainable.
As of the end of June 2021, the number of people participating in basic pension, unemployment, and work-related injury insurance has reached 1.014 billion, 222 million, and 274 million, respectively, and basic medical insurance covers more than 1.3 billion people.
Maternity insurance covers all employers and employees in accordance with the law.
Housing security has continued to increase, with a total of more than 80 million affordable housing and shed-reconstruction resettlement houses built, helping more than 200 million people in difficulties improve their housing conditions, and families with subsistence allowances and low-income housing difficulties have basically achieved all the necessary insurances. Housing conditions of lower-income families have been effectively improved.
