The U.S. State Department said it condemned North Korea for firing a projectile believed to be a short-range missile, but urged North Korea to engage in dialogue in the context of a diplomatic solution.

"The United States condemns the missile launch by North Korea," the State Department said in a statement, AFP news agency reported.

"The launch violates a number of UN Security Council resolutions," the State Department said in a statement.

"We are committed to a diplomatic approach with North Korea, and we urge them to engage in dialogue," he added.

The part that the State Department designated as a violation of the UN Security Council resolution raises the interpretation that it contains the judgment that the short-range missile launched by North Korea today (28th) is a ballistic missile banned by the Security Council resolution.

The State Department issued a statement to the same effect on the 15th when North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the East Sea.

This condemns North Korea's missile launch, but it seems that the US is pursuing dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue, so it seems that North Korea has maintained its stance of responding to dialogue.
