In his address, the political scientist noted that in the summer of 2020, a norm was introduced into the legislation allowing election commissions to vote in elections and referendums for three days.

When using this format, as the last elections to the State Duma showed, one of the voting days falls on a working Friday, when it is physically more difficult for many voters to visit polling stations, Orlov said.

“In this regard, I ask you to assess the feasibility of amending the legislation regarding the introduction of non-working days with pay-preservation on voting days in federal elections and referendums,” the appeal says.

According to the political scientist, this decision will help stimulate citizens to participate in elections, increase turnout, create more comfortable conditions for voters to participate in elections.

Earlier, the CEC approved the results of the elections to the State Duma held from 17 to 19 September.
