An investigation was opened for "invasion of privacy" after the exposure of a photo of President Emmanuel Macron in a swimsuit.

The investigations were entrusted to the Brigade for the repression of delinquency against the person.

According to Europe 1, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron are at the origin of the complaint which targets in particular a paparazzi, Thibault Daliphard, author of the offending photo.

This must be heard this Tuesday in Saint-Tropez (Var) by the police, indicates France Bleu Provence.

The pictures in question could be those presented at an exhibition held in Paris between September 8 and 20.

The head of state would appear there in a swimsuit or on his jet-ski.

"The purpose of these photos was not to provoke but simply to show that although they are heads of state, they are also men with hobbies", explains the photographer to France Bleu.

"A presidential tradition"

The man said he was very "surprised" by the complaint of the presidential couple because the Elysee had informed the gallery owner Daniel Delamare that the photos "disturbed" and they had, according to the paparazzi, "immediately removed".

The photographer is all the more in the misunderstanding that the pictures do not date from this year and have already circulated in the media.

“The photo on the jet ski shows a young, dynamic president, with almost a Kennedy-style look, so I don't see how the image is negative,” said Thibault Daliphard.

It is "even a presidential tradition to see photos of French presidents during their holidays", from "Pompidou at Fort de Brégançon to Emmanuel Macron, including Giscard in a swimsuit," he said.
