Legislative in Germany: Moscow hopes for "continuity" in its relations with Berlin

In Russia, the press is widely echoing the results of the German elections this Monday and the period of uncertainty that is opening.

Even the Kremlin had, through its spokesperson, a word on the outcome of the ballot.

The Kremlin says it is monitoring the electoral process in Germany "

 with attention 

".

And for good reason: "

 We have an interest in our relationship continuing and developing further, 

" said the spokesperson for the Russian presidency.

An important economic partner, Berlin is often seen in Russia as "

 the informal leader of the EU,

The formula was used again this Monday morning in the Russian press.

And if pro-Russian German politicians are in difficulty, it is because of Brussels, judges again this Monday a daily.

The two countries are not immune to differences, the Kremlin stressed, "

but they understand that the problems can only be resolved through dialogue

 ." Poisoning and imprisonment of the opponent Navalny, or the Ukrainian crisis and annexation of Crimea, tensions are numerous between Germany and Russia, but Angela Merkel and Vladimir Poutine have always considered that they have a real working relationship.

This is notably illustrated by

the Nord Stream 2 submarine gas pipeline

The German Social Democrats, members of the last coalition government with their leader Olaf Scholz as vice-chancellor and finance minister, were moreover on the same line as her on this issue.

Regarding this gas pipeline denounced by many European states and which should supply Europe shortly, the SPD candidate reaffirmed that Moscow had given guarantees that it will not serve as an energy weapon.
