Abu Dhabi Police warned of the danger of unprofessional people attempting to help traffic accident victims wrongly, causing harm to them, warning that in such cases they will be held legally responsible.

The Director of the Traffic Studies and Research Branch in Abu Dhabi Police, Captain Engineer Muhammad Hamad Al-Esai, confirmed the registration of deaths of people injured in traffic accidents, due to unqualified people getting off their vehicles when seeing the accident, and trying to help the injured and transfer him to the hospital, advising individuals not to interfere and deal with the injured. Accidents, as specialized and trained ambulance, rescue and emergency teams are concerned and authorized to transport the injured.

Al-Esai warned that there is a legal responsibility for the person who initiates assistance to the injured in a way that harms him, if he is not qualified to do so, and is not part of the response team.

Alesayi warned intruders not to gather around traffic accident sites and stop on highways to witness an accident, as it causes vehicles to slow down in the vicinity of traffic accidents, as well as obstructing the arrival of ambulances to extend a helping hand to the injured.

He cautioned that there are some people injured in traffic accidents who need quick treatment, medical intervention, and transfer to the hospital, and the crowd obstructs the arrival of ambulances to them. Walking, a behavior resulting from people's curiosity to see the accident or to photograph.

He revealed the danger of crowds in traffic accidents that may lead to deaths, citing a recent accident on a highway, and a woman stopped her vehicle to watch it, and a vehicle hit her at 100 km from behind, which led to the woman's death due to the force of the shock, attributing the cause of the accident to the crowd.

He urged drivers to pay attention while driving, especially during the peak period in which traffic accidents increase.

Rescue the injured

Abu Dhabi Police called for the necessity of making way for ambulances and civil defense to reach the accident sites to perform their humanitarian tasks in rescuing the injured. Which leads to their exposure to run-over accidents.

Violation of “gathering”

Abu Dhabi Police confirmed that it applies a violation of “gathering” during accidents, worth 1,000 dirhams, to reduce crowds and random parking of vehicles on the roads, and to prevent traffic jams in the places where the accident occurred.

She stressed that filming traffic accidents, publishing their photos and exchanging them on social media is a legally criminal behavior in accordance with the text of Article (197 bis 2) of the Penal Code, which punishes imprisonment and a fine.
