27 September 2021 Growth and reforms.

These are the objectives of the government, which accelerates on the Pact for Italy proposed by the premier, Mario Draghi, who today receives the trade unions at Palazzo Chigi.

Officially to talk about safety at work, but CGIL, CISL and UIL have no intention of stopping on the agenda.

"We will ask the Prime Minister and the Minister of Labor to set a calendar that says in the coming days when all the other open questions are addressed. Without prejudice, but very determined", warns Maurizio Landini, not excluding the possibility of also talking about free tampons for workers. "We can call it the Pact or whatever we like, but the problem remains: what I do and what content I want to create". The leader of the CGIL also returns to a point that has sparked the discussion in the political debate: "The Pact is not made only between trade unions and Confindustria, it is necessary to involve the entire production system, the political forces that represent this government and it is necessary that the executive be the guarantor of a reform process ".

Bonomi: "The response of the trade unions seemed positive to me "

Words that show the glass half full to Carlo Bonomi: "The response of the trade unions seemed positive to me. However, I read the desire to explore this possibility", says the number one of the industrialists. Which also returns to the standing ovation reserved by the General Assembly of his association to the head of the government: "A chemistry was born at that moment, I did not know the contents of his speech". However, the effect was positive: "I'm not surprised, I think Draghi has thrown his heart over the obstacle".

The idea launched by the premier also pleases the Democratic Party and part of the M5S. For Enrico Letta it is "the right proposal", so much so that the dem secretary indicates as the absolute priority "work for young people, which is not there today" and launches some food for thought on the new generations: "They go away, internships and precariousness is the great problem of our country, therefore an entry salary and the possibility of a first job for young people to stabilize them ". From the pentastellated world, Luigi Di Maio promoted the initiative: "I fully support the idea of the Pact, which must be as inclusive as possible, I don't think President Draghi ever intended that it could exclude anyone".

Minimum wage, trade unions criticize: "We risk reducing the bargaining space"

Beyond the enthusiasm, however, there are many issues to be addressed in this phase of the political season. Like that of the minimum wage, which does not convince the unions. "For us it is that of contractual minimums. We need to be very careful on this issue. We risk reducing the contractual space", says the general secretary of UIL, Pierpaolo Bombardieri. Followed closely by the leader of the CISL, Luigi Sbarra: "I fear that it would give the opening to many companies to leave the application of national contracts and would worsen the quality of life of millions of workers". Positions shared, this time, also by Confindustria: "We are to strengthen bargaining, because it guarantees everyone", explains Bonomi.

For Draghi and his government, therefore, weeks are expected to be quite full of commitments and issues to be addressed.

With an eye on next Sunday's administrative offices and above all keeping rumors about the premier's near future at bay.

Because the horizon remains the legislature and the priorities do not change: challenge of the NRP, vaccination campaign to be completed and growth (+ 6% of GDP in 2021) to be consolidated.
