Dressed in black and with some tiredness and fatigue that appeared on her, the Palestinian prisoner Khaleda Jarrar appeared immediately after her liberation from the prisons of the Israeli occupation after two years of detention, during which she lost her daughter and her liver, Suha (31 years), who died last July of a sudden heart attack.

At around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, the authorities of the Israeli Damon prison, where Israel is holding Palestinian female prisoners, released the prisoner Jarrar, a leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, after completing a two-year prison sentence.

At the Salem military checkpoint (northern West Bank), she was released in the presence of a large presence of her family, female prisoners, liberated prisoners, and friends of her daughter Suha.

From prison to grave

As if the scene of death repeats itself with the captive Jarrar, and not just the prison and its groans, and the circumstances are now very similar to what Jarrar experienced in 2019 when she was released after being arrested for about two years as well. .

The story is repeated now, to get Khaleda out of prison, to the grave of her daughter or "little child", as she used to call her to the new Ramallah cemetery, where her body was buried there more than two months ago.

The liberated captive told Al Jazeera Net in front of her daughter's grave, "The occupation cannot break the will of our people and obtain freedom, no matter what happens. The inhumane occupation believes that we are inhuman. When we cry, we are human and because we have a will, and as long as we have a will and as long as there is a living Palestinian people and as long as they slept." We are free in the whole world for the liberation of humanity and the liberation of the Palestinian people from the occupation. I do not think that they can break the will of anyone, because we are the most humane, and our tears are tears because we are human and they are inhuman and do not understand these feelings. As for the will, it derives from this people who sacrificed years to gain his freedom.

This sadness and pain over the separation, despite the joy of release, describes Khaleda's sister, Salam Jarrar, as "very harsh", and everything was impossible with him, even our press interview with Khaleda, even for a few seconds, because the health situation did not help her.

The sister, Jarrar, told Al Jazeera Net that Khaleda, despite her tragic injury, came out in high spirits, and that meeting her daughter Suha's friends, who all came to the checkpoint and embraced her, as Suha did with every reception, dispelled all manifestations of sadness.

And she adds that at that moment, at the Israeli Salem military checkpoint, where the occupation soldiers are watching the scene from afar, feelings were mixed between the joy of being released from the compelling families, the popular and family embrace and solidarity with Khaleda, who withstood the difficult situation.

Where is Soha?

“The only absentee this time was Suha,” Salam Jarrar says, especially as she used to receive her mother after her release with her past arrests, and today Salam sends a tone overwhelmed by sadness. her sleeping princess."

She did not see Salam - as she says - as a sister and a mighty mother, with spirits embracing the sky, like her immortal sister;

She endured the jailer's injustice and loss together. In her previous detention in 2017, her father died while she was in captivity, and now she has lost Suha, who left her studies abroad to stand by her captive mother, but she has not seen her for two and a half years.

From the Salem Military Checkpoint, Jarrar was taken to her husband’s family’s home in Jenin (northern West Bank) to rest a bit and receive mourners for her daughter, and then her convoy set off towards Ramallah (central West Bank), specifically to her new cemetery, where Khaleda will place “roses on her daughter Suha’s grave and throw She has a kiss," says Salam Jarrar.

Khaleda Jarrar, who comes from the city of Nablus, was arrested 4 times by the Israeli occupation, during which she spent several years in the occupation prisons, most of them in administrative detention without charge or setting a time limit as a date for release, during which she lost her father and daughter.

Regarding the prisoner's health condition, Salam said that her sister contracted a "high pressure" disease after the death of her daughter, and she underwent medical examinations, according to which her old medicines were changed, and her weight decreased by several kilograms, and her spirits are very high.

The severity of the scene

Omar Nazzal, one of Khaleda's close friends, who was at her reception, says that Khaleda came out strong and victorious over the jailer, despite her grief and deep wounding at the death of Suha.

Nazzal added in his speech to Al Jazeera Net that Khaleda was always strong and a leader who accommodated all the circumstances around her, but this moment is harsh for her as a human being, and despite that, her tears do not mean that she is weak, but rather that she will be stronger than the occupation.

Khaleda Jarrar responded to the Israeli occupation when he refused to release her to participate in her daughter's funeral, saying in a message to her that Al Jazeera Net arrived at the time, "They forbade me from saying goodbye to you with a kiss, I bid you farewell with a rose.

More than 40 Palestinian female prisoners are held in Damon prison, whose conditions are described as harsh and difficult, as they are constantly subjected to repression by the occupation, which storms their rooms, conducts searches, installs cameras in public squares, and restricts them in their most basic needs.

losing twice

And the loss - as seen by Zaher Al-Shashtari, a member of the political leadership of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - is a companion of Palestinian prisoners throughout history, and that Khaleda lived twice, but he justified this by saying that this is the life of Palestinian fighters.

Although she is a "gentle person" in Al-Shashtari's description of Khaleda Jarrar, she is "stubborn" who overcame many difficulties and went through severe experiences, and that this appeared in her request from her relatives to stand by her husband, and she asked him to bear and be patient with the tragedy of losing his daughter.

Khaleda Jarrar is one of the most prominent Palestinian political and societal figures. She held several positions in civil society institutions, and was elected as a deputy in the Legislative Council in 2006, where she was responsible for the prisoners’ file.

The release of Khaleda Jarrar coincided with the death of 5 Palestinian martyrs in the West Bank by the occupation bullets at dawn on Sunday, and despite that, social networking sites addressed the two events.
