In the case of the fatal track attack at Frankfurt Central Station, the judgment of the responsible regional court is final.

The Federal Court of Justice announced on Monday in Karlsruhe.

Previously, both the convict's lawyers and a co-plaintiff had gone on appeal.

The attack at Frankfurt Central Station caused horror nationwide in the summer of 2019.

A man who was 40 years old at the time had pushed an unknown woman and her son in front of an ICE train.

The eight-year-old was killed, the mother was able to save herself at the last second.

A pensioner, whom the Eritrean later also encountered, injured herself falling on the platform.

Murder and attempted murder

In its judgment in August 2020, the Frankfurt regional court ruled that the man is incapable of guilt and must permanently go to psychiatry.

The court classified the act as murder and, in the case of the mother, as attempted murder.

The attack on the elderly woman was classified as assault.

With her appeal, the pensioner wanted to ensure that the attack perpetrated against her is considered an attempted homicide.

This has now been rejected by the Federal Court of Justice as inadmissible.

The perpetrator's appeal was rejected as unfounded.

"This means that the judgment of the regional court is final," declared the Karlsruhe judges.
