The season for those who visit the ports started early and reached its peak even before midsummer.

- I probably think that there is generally a greater craving.

It broke loose around Easter and then it has only increased with people all the time, says harbor master Hans Johannesson.

He continues:

- Normally, we have many boats until midsummer, and then it usually goes down.

But this year, it continued to be a lot really until August.

What I heard from my harbor masters was that there were many who sat and worked on the boat, that you had the computer with you and worked during the day and sailed at night, he says.

Most motorhomes

In total, almost 23,000 visits to Borgholm's ports were included up to and including August.

This can be compared with 2019, the year before the pandemic, when the number of visits was just over 2,300 visits - throughout the year, with the harvest festival included in the statistics.

- I have probably not seen that there have been so many people on northern Öland since the eighties.

It has been fully booked everywhere, says Hans Johannesson.

Of the visits during spring and summer, about 13,000 consisted of motorhomes, while 10,000 were boats.

- The ports draw a lot of people from land as well, the largest hospitality industry comes by car and visits the ports.

So we have had to bring in a lot of extra staff, and they have solved it in a fantastic way, says Hans Johannesson.
