September 27, 2021 Emanuele Impellizzeri, 38, allegedly hanged in prison in Verona in the early hours of today, arrested on charges of killing Chiara Ugolini, 27, in the apartment that the girl shared with her partner on 5 September last. in Calmasino di Bardolino (Verona).
This was reported by the national secretary of the Uilpa Penitentiary Police, Gennarino De Fazio.
The discovery of the suicide dates back to 5.30.
Just today Impellizzeri should have been subjected to questioning.
The news of Impellizzeri's suicide was confirmed to ANSA by the man's lawyer, Mattia Guidato.
Impellizzeri, originally from Catania and a neighbor of Chiara Ugolini, was arrested on 6 September along the Autostrada del Sole near Florence, after escaping from Calmasino on his motorcycle.
Before the magistrates he had always made use of the right not to answer.
In recent days he had been transferred from the Florentine prison of Sollicciano to the Veronese prison of Montorio.
