It was in early April that the 28-year-old man murdered two guest workers on Östra Strand.

One victim by giving several blows to the face and upper body.

The other victim by pouring petrol in front of the apartment door, lighting a fire and letting the man burn inside.

Convicted of murder and aggravated arson

The district court now sentences the man to life imprisonment for murder, aggravated arson, preparation for aggravated assault and vandalism.

The man denies that he intended to kill the men and that he intended the fire to spread as it did.

Claim of 14 million

The man must pay SEK 550,000 in damages to the relatives of the murder victims and to the residents who were injured as a result of the fire.

The property owner's insurance company has also demanded the man of just over SEK 14.3 million for the fire-damaged buildings.

But that issue will be dealt with in a separate upcoming legal process, Halmstad District Court states.
