Heiko Maas received a direct mandate in the Bundestag

As a result of the vote, Maas received the support of 36.7% of the voters, while Altmeier received 28% of the vote.

It is noted that this was the only nationwide duel for a mandate in the Bundestag between the two heads of federal departments.

The Secretary General of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of Germany, Lars Klingbeil, previously expressed confidence that the party received a mandate to form the country's cabinet.
