The capital does not disappoint this time either. Notorious for its administration, the country, which is essentially a large city with a small economic output, has come up with something very special: not only did the election for the House of Representatives take place on the day of the Bundestag election. At the same time, the Berliners were able to cast their vote in the referendum on the expropriation of large real estate groups. And on top of that, as the logistical icing on the cake, the Berlin Marathon also took place on Sunday. But why not, these are separate events. So it happened in Berlin that polling stations had to be closed temporarily, many citizens stood their legs in their stomachs or even turned around because the ballot papers had run out and supplies did not reach the polling front.

Election day is the high office of democracy.

The process is old-fashioned in the best sense of the word.

The act is not carried out electronically, but takes place as it has been since the beginning of democratic elections.

Personal appearance is the rule, at least the model of the Basic Law.

The urge to vote by post, which began before the corona pandemic and which is now possible without justification, has taken on constitutionally questionable features.

Here public control is withdrawn and the integrity of the election is not guaranteed as in the case of the ballot box.

You have to be able to organize that too, of course.
