Sudan announces response to an Ethiopian incursion attempt

The Sudanese Armed Forces announced today, Sunday, that they had repelled and thwarted an attempt to incur an Ethiopian forces’ incursion into Sudanese territory in the Umm Brakhit sector in the Al-Fashqa region in the east of the country.

The Sudan News Agency (SUNA) quoted Brigadier Taher Abuhaga, media advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, as saying in a press statement that "the Sudanese armed forces repelled the incursion attempt and forced the Ethiopian forces to withdraw."

The borders of Sudan and Ethiopia have witnessed military tension since last November, when the Sudanese army redeployed its forces in Al-Fashqa lands and recovered large areas of agricultural land that Ethiopian groups had been cultivating under the protection of the militias for more than 25 years.
