Europe, already the winner of the first three editions, retained the Laver Cup trophy, leaving no chance for the rest of the world team, led 14 to 1 and unable to catch up again, Sunday in Boston.

The first game on the Sunday schedule was good for the Europeans, with Russian-German pair Andrey Rublev / Alexander Zverev having beaten US-Canadian duo Reilly Opelka / Denis Shapovalov 6-2, 6-7 (4/7) and 10 -3 in the super tie-break, particularity of the event.

This success earned the European team three points sufficient to win the title, since 13 were needed and Europe already had 11 at the end of the second day.

There are three singles left to play, which will only be used to determine the final score of this three-day confrontation.

The domination of European players has been overwhelming since Friday and reflects their stranglehold at the top of world tennis, all without world No.1 Novak Djokovic, who has just missed the last step of a calendar Grand Slam at the US Open, without Rafael Nadal who treats a painful foot, and without Roger Federer, recovering after a new operation on a knee.

The Swiss were nevertheless present in the stands because he is the one who launched the creation of the Laver Cup in 2018.

With Russian Daniil Medvedev (N.2), who has just shattered Djokovic's dream at Flushing Meadows, Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas (N.3), German Alexander Zverev (N.4), Russian Andrey Rublev (N .5) or the Italian Matteo Berretini (N.7), Europe was untouchable.

And this was seen in the first nine matches of the competition, even if some were played in super tie-breaks, since only the double of the first day was snatched by the rest of the world.
