Jafza and Dubai Courts launch the first smart court in the Middle East to hear labor cases

Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) and Dubai Courts have launched the "Smart Court" for dealing with claims and labor cases for companies registered in the Jebel Ali Free Zone and their employees, as part of their efforts to establish excellence in their integrated business environment and digital ecosystem.

The parties concerned with the labor case will be able to attend the smart courtroom, which is equipped with a live broadcast system linked to the Dubai courts and enhanced with the highest levels of electronic security, so that the judges can listen to the parties to the case and see its merits through electronic linking with the digital Jafza system for work contracts and related information to decide cases and passing judgments.

The two parties signed a cooperation agreement in 2019 in the presence of Major General Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai and Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Labor Affairs in Dubai, where a labor court was established that uses live broadcasting technology for sessions to consider lawsuits for companies operating in the Jebel Ali Free Zone and in its business areas.

The smart court, which is located in Jafza Building 14, marks the beginning of a new phase to facilitate litigation procedures. It has also been provided with everything needed for the litigation process to match its performance in the traditional court at the headquarters of the Dubai Courts, where the link between the labor systems in Jafza and the courts has been secured to ensure the best levels of direct broadcasting of the facts.
