Israel releases Palestinian prisoner Khaleda Jarrar

Today, Sunday, the Israeli authorities released Khaleda Jarrar, a member of the political bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, after more than two months of not allowing her to go out to participate in her daughter's funeral.

Jarrar, 58, spent a two-year prison sentence in her last arrest, knowing that she was arrested by Israel in 2015 and spent 15 months, and in 2017, she spent 20 months, between sentences and administrative prison.

According to the Palestinian News and Information Agency (Wafa), Jarrar will, upon her arrival in Ramallah, go to the city's cemetery to read Al-Fatihah at the tomb of her daughter, who passed away last July.

At the time, the Israeli authorities did not respond to legal and institutional efforts made to release Jarrar, to bid her farewell to her daughter, and to participate in her funeral, which sparked widespread condemnation.

It should be noted that the mother is a prominent Palestinian deputy.

She was arrested in 2019.
