Irreplaceable cultural treasure was returned to the church: "Very special"

One of those who helped to find the candle plate is John Rothlind, cultural heritage coordinator at the Church of Sweden Västerås.

- It is a very special feeling that good forces could be helped and get the candle plate home to Badelunda church, he says.

Also present during the ceremony was police officer Ulrika Bergström, who works at the National Operations Department and who investigated the incident.

It all started with the light plate being handed in to an auction house.

- We do not know who stole it from the beginning.

The seller got hold of it at a flea market a number of years ago and that is where it simply ends, says Ulrika Bergström.
