September 26, 2021 A high-speed line train traveling between Chicago and Seattle derailed as it crossed in the state of Montana, near the town of Joplin.
This was announced by the Amtrak company.
At least three victims and dozens injured.
On board the Empire Builder were 147 passengers and 13 crew members.
According to local media, the Amtrak train derailed around 4pm on Saturday afternoon local time.
No details yet on the causes of the accident.
Five carriages ended up off the rails.
Passengers said they felt strong vibrations during the journey, similar to the turbulence of an airplane.
