A national tribute will be paid this week to Maxime Blasco, the master corporal killed this Friday morning in Mali.

According to information from the

Journal du Dimanche

, the ceremony could take place at the Invalides, without this being confirmed for the moment.

A tribute also planned in Isère

Maxime Blasco, who died at the age of 34 while deployed in Operation Barkhane, belonged to the 7th Battalion of Alpine Hunters based in Varces (Isère).

A tribute ceremony should also take place during the week, to be "surrounded by his brothers in arms of the battalion," Colonel Erwan Le Calvez explained to France Bleu.

This husband and father, a sniper, had distinguished himself in 2019 by a heroic act by extirpating comrades from a downed helicopter in the Malian desert, despite fractured vertebrae.
