▲ A 6-year-old American girl dies while riding on a vertical drop ride

Earlier this month, the death of a 6-year-old girl at an amusement park in Colorado, USA, was revealed to be caused by negligence of an amusement ride employee, the Associated Press reported, citing an accident investigation report from the Colorado State Department of Labor and Employment.

On the 6th, a 6-year-old girl fell and died while riding a vertical drop into a dark underground 110 feet (34 meters) depth at Glenwood Caverns Amusement Park, Colorado.

According to the investigation report, at the time of the accident, the amusement ride was operated without a seat belt worn by the dead 6-year-old child, but it was revealed that the two new operating staff did not take proper measures in advance.

After boarding the ride, the child sat on the two seat belts that were supposed to be worn around the knee, but the staff did not notice it and activated the ride.

In addition, it was found that even though the warning system for not wearing seat belts was activated, the employees did not receive sufficient response training in advance, so they reset the system without taking any action and then operated the device.

A lawyer for the family said, "This accident could have been prevented very easily," and "The report clearly states that the accident was the amusement park's fault."

He also said that the bereaved family will file a lawsuit against the amusement park to prevent a similar accident from reoccurring.
