It was on Thursday evening that the rescue service's task leader Martin Trofast arrived at the accident site at Lindshammar, in a second phase of the rescue operation.

Three young people, who were 16, 17 and 18 years old, died in the traffic accident.

- There will be a lot of questions about how the accident happened and what it looked like on the site, but we can not answer that now, the investigation must show how it all happened, says Martin Trofast, operations manager.

"Been there before"

The road section has a speed limit of 90 kilometers per hour, but in the summer it is reduced to 70 kilometers per hour.

- It is an easy turn next to a lake in which the accident took place. I can not say if that stretch is statistically more accident-prone than others, but we at the rescue service have been there before.

The speed must be reduced

For several years, residents near the stretch of road have tried to slow down there.

Among other things, a name collection was sent in just a few weeks ago that requires reduced speed and barrel cameras along the route, reports P4 Jönköping.

Next year, the speed will be reduced from 90 kilometers per hour to 80 kilometers per hour, says Kristina Johansson, investigator at the Swedish Transport Administration to the radio.

- The speed will be reduced at the end of 2022. Within a year or two, there will also be speed cameras along this entire stretch.

Support for relatives and those affected

The rescue service is part of Vetlanda municipality's crisis group after the accident and on Friday they attended the Mission Church which opened for young people to gather and mourn their friends together.

Now the crisis work continues in the form of contact with relatives and also conversational support for the rescue personnel.

- We are practiced and trained to go on alarm, but it is clear that situations like this touch, they do.
