On Saturday, two talking benches were inaugurated at Dr Fries square on Guldheden in Gothenburg.

Around the city, about twenty yellow benches have been placed.

The benches are equipped with signs that encourage conversation.

- Talking benches are something that suits the Gothenburg experience very well.

We like to "shout" at each other.

The idea is to encourage meetings across generational boundaries, says Elisabet Lann (KD), chair of the elderly, care and welfare committee.

Older people have decided on the location

The talking benches are part of the City of Gothenburg's action plan for age - friendly Gothenburg, a broad collaboration between administrations, companies and the elderly.

And the benches have been exhibited in places the elderly have said they like.

- The most important thing is that we dare to go out and meet again.

The most important thing about this is that we try to break isolation and loneliness, says Drude Björningstad Quinones, business developer Generationsmöten i Centrum, the social administration Centrum.
