Xinhua News Agency, United Nations, September 25 (Reporter Wang Jiangang) On the 25th, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov called on the United States to play a more active role to promote the resumption of negotiations on a comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue.

Lavrov said at a press conference held at the United Nations headquarters in New York that day, the United States and the United Kingdom, France, Russia, China and Germany reached an Iran nuclear agreement with Iran in July 2015. Therefore, the United States “should be more actively involved in resolving issues with Iran. All questions related to this."

Lavrov said: "We hope to resume negotiations on the Iran nuclear agreement as soon as possible." He said that after the United States withdrew from the agreement, Iran "continues to abide by the agreement in good faith" and hopes that the United States can "waive up" and return to the agreement.

Iranian President Leahy spoke at the 76th UN General Assembly’s general debate on the 21st, criticizing the US’s arbitrary withdrawal from the Iran nuclear agreement and continuing to impose sanctions on Iran during the new crown epidemic, emphasizing that this is a manifestation of US hegemonism and Iran no longer Trust any promise made by the US government.

According to the Iran nuclear agreement reached with the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany, Iran promised to restrict its nuclear program and the international community lifted sanctions against Iran.

In May 2018, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement, and subsequently restarted and added a series of sanctions against Iran.

The parties involved in the Iranian nuclear agreement have been discussing the issue of resuming compliance with the U.S. and Iran in Vienna, Austria since April this year, and six rounds of talks have been held so far.

Due to serious differences between the United States and Iran and the change of leadership of the Iranian government, a new round of talks has not been held for a long time.
