It is reported by CBS News with reference to the data of the Liberty County Sheriff.
"According to the Liberty County Sheriff, there have been at least three confirmed deaths," the station said in a statement.
There were 147 passengers and 13 crew members on the train at the time of the incident.
The accident occurred about 1.6 km from Joplin, a city with a population of about 200 people.
