Oleksandr Usyk defeated Anthony Joshua in the heavyweight World Cup match in London.

Ukrainian Usyk deprived the British Joshua of three-league World Cup titles.

Former lower heavyweight champion Usyk kept the pace in the match from the start.

It seemed too much for the bigger Joshua.

Left-handed Usyk started the match perfectly, and Joshua did not keep up with the faster Ukrainian.

In the third set, Usyk’s left straight hurt Joshua.

Joshua made it to the semi-finals, but got tired towards the end.

In the final, 12th installment, Usyk was close to hitting Joshua’s canvas.

- This means a lot to me, Usyk said in a TV interview.

- The match went exactly according to my plan.

At a few points, Anthony put a lot of pressure on me, but by no means miraculously.

Usyk sent greetings to his wife.

She said in an interview that the victory came on her 12th wedding anniversary.

Both Joshua and Usyk won Olympic gold in London 2012, Usyk under 91kg and Joshua over 91kg.

Early in his professional career, Usyk competed in the lower heavyweight series, where he became the undisputed champion.

Usyk have won all 18 professional matches.

He only played in the heavyweight series for the third time.

Joshua has now lost twice in his 25-match professional career.

Of the four major World Cup titles, Usyk is missing one more.

It is held by British Tyson Fury, who will face American Deontay Wilder in two weeks.
