Over the past day, 22,041 cases of coronavirus have been detected in Russia, while 16,325 people have fully recovered.

Also recorded 822 deaths.

Note that more than 800 deaths from coronavirus per day have been registered in the Russian Federation for five days in a row.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 7,398,415 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been identified in the country, of which 6,590,933 people have recovered.

From complications that developed against the background of coronavirus and concomitant diseases, 203,095 people died.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, over 189.3 million tests for a new type of coronavirus have been performed over the entire period, including 527 thousand in the last 24 hours.

More than 1.25 million people remain under medical supervision.

In Moscow over the past day, 3211 new cases of coronavirus were detected, in St. Petersburg - 1907, in the Moscow region - 1106. According to the capital's operational headquarters, 828 people were hospitalized per day, 63 patients died.

There are 324 people on ventilators.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova the day before called the current situation with the incidence of COVID-19 "autumnal".

According to her, the increase in the number of cases of seasonal respiratory infections and coronavirus is due to the fact that many Russians have returned from vacations, in connection with which many workers, student and children's groups gathered again.

In addition, among the factors of growth, the chief sanitary doctor of Russia named a decrease in temperature.

“In the future, obviously, the change will be towards an increase in the number of cases.

As always, first of all, growth is taking place in large metropolitan areas, ”Popova said in an interview with the Russia 1 TV channel.

According to her, the current number of people vaccinated against coronavirus in Russia is not enough to stop the spread of the disease in the country.

The specialist cited data, according to which there are about 110-115 million Russians from among the adult population in the country.

“Of these, 47 million who received one dose is less than half.

This is not 60%, it is not 80%.

Therefore, today there is no reason to say that everything will stop.

We have a large number of people who will get sick when they encounter the virus, ”Popova emphasized.

At the same time, she said that among those infected with the delta strain in Russia, only 2% are vaccinated: “The vaccine protects against severe disease, resuscitation and death ... Of the number of people who die every day in the country, there are practically no vaccinated.”

The head of Rospotrebnadzor also said that there is now no reason to introduce a new lockdown due to the increase in the number of coronavirus cases.

She noted that the main problem facing specialists is to improve the functioning of the economy and preserve the quality of life of people in the context of the restrictive measures introduced.

Popova stated that a new influenza risk group has emerged, which includes those who have recovered from coronavirus infection.

According to her, the coronavirus affects various organs and systems of the body, so those who have had COVID-19 must be vaccinated against the flu.

But the interval between vaccinations against coronavirus and flu should be at least one month.

Deputy Director for Research of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Alexander Gorelov, also expressed the opinion that an increase in the incidence of coronavirus in Russia may occur due to unvaccinated citizens.

"Presumably, at the expense of those who were not vaccinated, because we are all naive before the virus and a meeting with it ends with the development of an infectious process of varying severity," TASS cites his answer to the question, due to which categories of citizens in the country a new wave can occur pandemics.

Meanwhile, experts do not exclude that a new rise in the incidence of COVID-19 may begin due to the spread of the delta strain in the regions.

This point of view was expressed by the leading researcher of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, virologist Maxim Skulachev.

“There are already prerequisites for a new wave of COVID-19.

I would say that, to a greater extent, these prerequisites exist not in Moscow and St. Petersburg, but in other regions.

In capitals, there are a very large number of people who have been ill and a large number of vaccinated, so it is more difficult for the virus to spread.

Moreover, many were sick here in the summer, so I hope for some collective immunity, - he said in an interview with Sputnik radio.

- In other regions, in smaller cities, there was no such serious epidemic.

I am afraid that the Delta strain may get there and we will see a rise in statistics. "
