On behalf of China, a country with similar views urged the United Kingdom to stop using human rights as a political tool at the UN Human Rights Council

Jiang Duan, Minister of the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations in Geneva, represented Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea, South Sudan, Venezuela and other countries with similar views at the 48th session of the UN Human Rights Council on the 24th. The speech urged Britain to face its own human rights issues and stop using human rights as a political tool.

　　The joint speeches expressed deep concern about the human rights situation in the UK and pointed out that systemic racism and racial discrimination in the UK are deeply ingrained, hate speech, xenophobia and related acts of violence have intensified, and the living conditions of ethnic minorities have continued to deteriorate.

The poverty problem in the UK is serious, with one third of families with children under 5 living in poverty.

　　The joint speeches stated that Britain has frequently carried out military interventions in other countries, causing a large number of civilian casualties and severely undermining the economic and social development of the interfered countries.

British soldiers indiscriminately killed innocent civilians, tortured and committed serious crimes in overseas military operations, but the perpetrators were sheltered by the British government.

The UK has also abused unilateral coercive measures, seriously damaging the human rights of the people in the sanctioned countries.

　　The joint speeches stated that the United Kingdom turned a blind eye to its own human rights violations, but was addicted to colonialism, keen on fabricating and spreading false information, pointing fingers at other countries, interfering in other countries’ internal affairs, and serving their own political conspiracies.

The joint speeches urged the British government to face its own problems, immediately stop all violations of human rights, and stop using human rights as a political tool.

Call on the United Nations Human Rights Council and relevant special mechanisms to continue to pay attention to the UK's human rights violations and take necessary actions to supervise the UK to correct its mistakes.
