Lavrov noted the importance of developing cooperation between Russia and the UN

“Both sides stressed the importance of further strengthening the central role of the UN in the world arena and reaffirmed the focus on developing mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and the world organization,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said following the meeting between Lavrov and Guterres on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

In addition, the parties discussed a wide range of topical international issues, including the situation in Afghanistan, eastern Ukraine, Syria and Libya.

Earlier it became known that Lavrov held a meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
