On October 10, almost a full month earlier than first announced, vaccinations will start in schools.

A total of 11,000 children are offered vaccines.

But for those younger than 12 years, it is doubtful whether there will be any vaccination in Sweden, says Hans Boman, infection control doctor in Västernorrland.

- It is not relevant in Sweden today.

In some other countries it has been discussed, but in that case it is in the future here.

Vaccine for younger people is being tested

A few days ago, Pfizer-Biontech announced that their covid vaccine has been shown to have a beneficial effect on children aged 5-11, and that they have plans to apply for an approval for the age group in both the US and the EU.

The vaccine is already approved for people who are 12 years or older.

The children in the Pfizer-Biontech test received two doses of vaccine at 21-day intervals.

The dose in each syringe was one third as large as the dose given to persons older than 12 years.
