The suspense was maintained until the end.
While the publication of the list of members had been announced a few days ago, it was at the end of the day on Friday that the intentions of the Transitional Military Council were confirmed through a message to parliamentarians read by Haroun Kabadi, the president of the National Assembly, maintained on an interim basis since April.
"
The nation thanks you for ensuring the continuity of parliamentary work
," said Mahamat Idriss Déby in his message.
On the list of the provisional parliament, read on the antennas of the public media by the spokesman of the junta, General Azem Bermandoa, we find members of the former Parliament, such as Haroun Kabadi, Romadoungar Félix, last head of the parliamentary opposition under Idriss Déby Itno or the former Prime Minister Kassiré Coumakoye.
Among the new parliamentarians, we also find former presidential candidates from April 2021 such as Benzoune Bongoro Theophile and Alladoum Djarma Baltazar.
But no member of the Wakit Tama platform, which still challenges the current power.
