    In Sardinia on 4/10 for extradition hearing

September 25, 2021 Hugs, applause, cheers. Alghero greeted Carles Puigdemont with a big crowd, a warm welcome the day after the release decided by the judges of the Sassari court of appeal who reserved the right to decide on the extradition in the hearing scheduled for next 4 October. Alghero now hosts thousands of Catalan tourists on the occasion of the folklore festival organized by Adifolk.



The MEP, former president of the Catalan Generalitat, therefore made his first public appearance in the square of Porta Terra, in front of the seat of the municipality of Alghero. Immediately afterwards, the Catalan leader walked to the port, where the parade in typical costumes of the cities of Catalonia was organized and someone sang the Catalan anthem.



"I'm fine, I'm like home here" said Puigdemont, he addressed the Italian press while, escorted by his entourage, he reached Porta Terra, the representative office of the Municipality of Alghero.

In the late afternoon, the Catalan MEP will hold a press conference to take stock of his judicial situation in the light of his arrest on Thursday, on behalf of the Spanish authorities who accuse him of expedition for the unrest related to the referendum for Catalan independence.
