The man, who is the head of an authority, was arrested early in the morning on September 20 and is now in custody.

According to the prosecutor, the suspected crime must have taken place during the years 2011-2015.

During that period, the man was employed by both the Armed Forces and the Security Police.

For several years, he worked full time as an analyst and project manager at the Swedish Armed Forces' intelligence and security service, Must.

Participated in international projects

At the Swedish Armed Forces, participation in international projects and handling of information on security policy development and security-threatening activities were some of his tasks.

The service certificate from the Armed Forces states that a large part of the man's work has been classified and therefore cannot be described in detail.

According to the Armed Forces, the tasks have placed very high demands on security awareness and accuracy.

The man has been employed by Säpo, which SVT's sources can confirm, and in his CV the man himself writes about the Säpo job that "the tasks include leading and participating in method and development work, intelligence gathering, investigative work etc.".

Emphasized the ability to make contacts

Over the past 10-15 years, the man has held several classified jobs at Swedish authorities.

The man worked for several years at the Swedish Customs.

In the job application, he highlights his ability to instill trust and to create and maintain contacts.

The man currently holds a senior management position at another Swedish authority.

He also highlighted his social skills in his application to that authority.

"One of my absolute greatest strengths is my ability to create trust and build relationships, both within my own organization and towards customers and partners," the man wrote when he applied for a job at the authority.

The authority does not want to be interviewed.

"We do not comment on ongoing personnel matters, nor how we work with our security issues," the authority writes in an email to SVT.

Heading changed

The man was initially suspected of espionage but the title has been changed and he is now on probable cause suspected of gross unauthorized employment with secret information.

The type of information the suspicions concern is currently unknown.

Prosecution must be brought no later than 7 October.

The man denies the crime.

His defender, lawyer Anton Strand, currently does not want to answer whether they will appeal the detention decision.

Hultqvist: "May return"

Minister of Defense Peter Hultqvist (S) tells SVT that he has information in the case, but that he does not want to give any further comments.

Can this have any consequences for Sweden's security, do you think?

- We will return to that when there is more to say, but I have information in the case, says Peter Hultqvist.

Do you know more about this?

Or do you know of other things we should review?
