It was finally the IGPN which was seized of the investigation into the young man seriously injured by the fire of retaliation of the police officers on whom he had fired with a pistol, in Ambleteuse, in Pas-de-Calais, Thursday.

According to the investigation, the 20-year-old approached three police officers from the Lens police station on a surveillance patrol, on the night of Wednesday to Thursday.

"Very alcoholic", he was armed with "a ball gun," said the deputy prosecutor of Boulogne-sur-Mer, Philippe Sabatier.

"He should get out of it but with serious after-effects"

“Five feet from the vehicle, he opened fire.

The detonation was strong enough to provoke a reaction ”from the police, explained the prosecutor.

The latter then used their service weapons, firing six times.

Hit by four bullets in the legs, abdomen and chest, the man was immediately hospitalized.

“The vital prognosis is still reserved.

He should get out of it but with serious consequences, ”according to the magistrate.

Investigations determined that the young man had attempted suicide during the summer.

He had also told his grandmother, who was hosting him, "of his intention to commit suicide by attacking the police".

"This could explain his gesture, but it remains to be confirmed," said Philippe Sabatier, who excludes any radicalized profile.
