The police arrested nine men in Eindhoven on Thursday who are suspected of preparing a terrorist attack.

The suspects are said to be supporters of terrorist group IS, the Public Prosecution Service said.

The men are also said to be training for the crime.

It concerns eight men from the Netherlands and a man who was born in Afghanistan.

They all have Dutch nationality.

The Public Prosecution Service has announced that the Criminal Investigation Department and the Public Prosecution Service have started an investigation into the suspects this summer, based on information from the AIVD.

The authorities searched the homes of the suspects and seized data carriers.

There were no weapons or explosives in the houses.

At the moment, the suspects are in all restrictions.

This means that they are kept in a cell as much as possible without contact with the outside world, with the exception of a lawyer.
