Peskov commented on the decision of the US House of Representatives to approve the defense budget, which includes amendments to sanctions against Russia.

He noted that this bill should go through several more iterations, after which "there will be a question whether the US administration will heed these recommendations regarding sanctions."

“But, of course, this is the worst scenario for the development of our relations.

This would significantly undermine the “spirit of Geneva” and even those modest hopes for establishing, restoring some kind of substantive dialogue that appeared after Geneva, ”Peskov said.

Earlier it was reported that the House of Representatives approved the draft US defense budget for 2022.

On September 23, it became known that the House of Representatives made an addition to the draft defense budget for 2022 regarding the ban for US citizens on transactions with the sovereign national debt of Russia.

In addition, members of the House Rules Committee approved an amendment recommending the US administration to consider the possibility of sanctions against 35 Russian businessmen, journalists and politicians.
