By the end of 2020, this percentage is expected to rise to 5% by 2025.

He added that the Dubai Future Foundation recently launched a report entitled "50 Designers from Dubai", which highlighted a number of local talents working in different fields of design, with a focus on five of them: graphic design, space design, design management, and media design. It aims to highlight the importance of design in shaping the future and the riches inherent in Dubai's design talent.

Al Jaziri stressed the importance of adopting the concept of creative design in various fields and supporting promising talents, in the design sector and other creative sectors, in order to activate their vital role and enhance their positive contribution to various national projects and initiatives aimed at strengthening Dubai's leadership.

He pointed out that design is an engine for achieving prosperity, economic diversification, and accelerating development. The design sector has gained a growing importance at the global level, as governments, bodies and companies in many cities, regions and countries have become aware of the actual value of the sector and its promising potential, which is in the interest of their local economies.

He continued: "Despite the role played by the design sectors as a major driver of wealth growth and job creation over several centuries, there was no global consensus on classifying the design sector among the important sectors supporting the economy, and only in recent years has the design sector gained increasing attention worldwide. This is due to the awareness of those in charge of the sector and its pioneers of its importance on the social and economic levels.”

Al-Jaziri stated that the last quarter of the twentieth century witnessed radical changes of global importance, the most important of which were the economic changes accompanying globalization, which resulted in a redefinition of economic sectors, and a radical change in competitiveness, to move from traditional military power to economic and civilizational power, and replaced the focus on military competition Focusing on economic competition, based on market mechanisms, competitiveness, and scientific and technological progress.

He pointed to the importance of design in enriching the economies of nations, as design of all kinds has become a major factor in the growth of the economies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, as it plays the main role in developing and improving the quality of life by finding effective creative solutions to all challenges across various industries and sectors. The actual, virtual and future environment, whether in the form of products, services, knowledge and science.

He pointed out that modern sciences and emerging technologies are, in many scenarios, the main driver of decisions related to countries' strategies for development. However, technologies in their forms, no matter how complex they are, are capable of providing real-time knowledge, and creative design in its modern sense is capable of developing future products and services. The future cannot be imagined through scientific research, and the only way to do that is by imaginative design that works on visualizing future scenarios and developing creative solutions to them even before they appear in reality.
