Arrested Thursday in Sardinia, the Catalan independence leader Carles Puigdemont was released on Friday September 24, according to his lawyer, pending the decision of the Italian justice on his possible extradition to Spain, where he is being prosecuted for his role in a attempted secession in 2017.
