24 September 2021 On the day of the 24-hour national air transport strike, the

demonstration of the workers

of Alitalia-Ita and of the sector at Rome Fiumicino airport, saw the great participation in the protest of all the workers of Alitalia, against the industrial plan of Ita. Demonstrations, principals and sit-ins were held both in Rome, at Fiumicino airport and in the Milanese airports of Malpensa and Linate.

In Rome, the Rome-Fiumicino motorway was blocked for about three hours with demonstrators sitting on the asphalt of the lane in the direction of the airport. There have been some travelers who have attempted to reach the airport on foot.

There were moments of tension when the demonstrators, about two thousand people, forced the police line to reach the highway. The Police Headquarters denied that there were charges to the workers, as reported by some press organs.

The protests of the demonstrators coincided with the

national air transport strike lasting 24 hours

, which saw "very high membership, with peaks of 100% in some airports", underlined the unions. There are many

issues to be addressed

: from the blocking of layoffs to the Ita-Alitalia and Air Italy disputes; the crises of the Norwegian, Ernest and Blue Panorama companies; corporate disputes involving ground and flight personnel; the refinancing of the Air Transport Solidarity Fund; the application of the CCnl for the whole sector; Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl and Uiltrasporti explained, representing that for all these reasons "the mobilization continues indefinitely until we receive adequate responses".

Maurizio Landini

, leader of the CGIL, spoke again on the Alitalia-Ita affair, rejecting the layoffs and asking the company for a serious business plan. Landini said: "It is necessary to apply the national contract, have a serious business plan and it is not acceptable that those who have the mandate for the government to manage this negotiation with public money think they can fire, not apply the agreement and lower rights and wages". "Solutions have to be found," said Landini.

The

Minister of Labor

,

Andrea Orlando

, in view of the meeting, scheduled at the labor department next week, to address the issue of layoffs for Alitalia employees who will not be absorbed by Ita, he specified on Alitalia: "I called the table with the trade unions to address a piece of the problem "that is that of social safety nets and for Ita" I can only hope that there will be a resumption of the confrontation that brings the situation back to a riverbed ".

The garrison that the demonstrators, after blocking the Rome-Fiumicino motorway, had implemented in front of the Departures Terminal T3, where the demonstration organized by the confederates took place in the morning on the occasion of the 24-hour national air transport strike, ended shortly. after 17.30.

We were not afraid, but in the end there is a lot of bitterness because the situation was handled badly. given the opportunity to march to people who are losing their jobs, who divert the authorized route by attacking police forces who are there to work ".
