A 36-year-old man died Thursday morning on a construction site in Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), reports France 3 Normandie.

The worker was on a basket about twenty meters above the ground when it fell.

When help arrived on site, the victim was unconscious and finally succumbed.

In total, ten firefighters in three devices intervened on the scene.

This tragedy occurred within the Siemens Gamesa factory, indicate our colleagues.

The site on which the 30-year-old was working was launched as part of the construction of future offshore wind turbines. The work was immediately stopped and the personnel were evacuated.

An investigation was opened to clarify the circumstances of the accident.

Wind turbines that spark debate

The death of the worker comes when dozens of fishing boats must gather this Friday to block the port of Le Havre.

Fishermen from Normandy, Brittany and Hauts-de-France demonstrate against offshore wind projects off the region.

Another mobilization is planned in Cherbourg.
