The U.S. envoy to Haiti resigns and condemns the Biden administration for repatriating Haitian immigrants

[Global News] AFP just reported that two months after being appointed, the US envoy to Haiti resigned on September 23, local time, to condemn the Biden administration for repatriating Haitian immigrants.

In July of this year, the US State Department announced the appointment of Daniel Ford as its special envoy to Haiti.

Daniel Ford said in a resignation letter: "The United States has made the inhumane and counterproductive decision to deport thousands of Haitian refugees and illegal immigrants back to Haiti. I will not agree with this decision."

According to the report, Daniel Ford wrote in this letter to U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Brinken, “Fell into poverty and become hostages of terrorists, the Haitian population simply cannot support those forced to import, tens of thousands of people lacking food, "Returning immigrants for residence and money", "more refugees will exacerbate despair and crime."

Prior to Daniel Ford's resignation, the Biden administration began deporting Haitian immigrants from Mexico back to Haiti starting last weekend.
