The Municipal Police avoided on Thursday afternoon a concentration of young people who had been summoned by social networks to participate in a bloodbath on the esplanade of the Faculty of Law of the Complutense University of Madrid.
Dozens of young people have approached the area with bottles in bags
but the police presence has prevented the concentration of adolescents after 25,000 people gathered in a macro-bottle in the University City last Saturday morning.
The few young people who have responded to the call have said in statements to Efe that "
with so many police on every corner it is impossible" that the massive bottle
that has led the City Council and the Government Delegation to mobilize the police in places like the Moncloa interchange, the Temple of Debod, the Parque del Oeste or the Autonomous University, throughout the weekend.
At eight o'clock in the afternoon the University City was still practically empty compared to the classic bottles that were held in this area before the health crisis caused by the covid.
The policemen approached some groups of young people and asked them to throw away the alcoholic beverages
they were carrying in green bags.
As some of the students who have responded to the call have indicated to Efe, it
was likely that those who wanted to make a bottle in this faculty would have gone to other places such
as the vicinity of the Moncloa interchange or the nearby Parque del Oeste.
"Today there is nothing, we have come just in case there was something, but people are beginning to dissolve. Last weekend I was leaving training and it seemed like an outrage to everyone there," said Carmen, a student Law that has estimated that the people who have gone this Thursday with bags "will go with their group" to the other side, but "the massive bottle of sangriada of law will not have," he added.
300 agents
Up to 300 agents of the Municipal Police, as well as the Corps' drones and members of the canine section will guard against the
celebration of bottles this weekend
in spaces such as the Complutense University of Madrid, the Autonomous University or the Parque del Oeste.
It was detailed this Thursday by the delegate of Security and Emergencies of the Consistory, Inmaculada Sanz, who explained that the usual reinforcement of 200 agents is maintained "plus another 100 additional" who will be assigned "from this Thursday to avoid crowds, with attention to the CIU area ".
The delegate has valued that it is "
a very important effort in a weekend that also brings together many activities"
in the capital, something that highlights that "the activity of the city practically recovers its normality and there are many events that occur ".
Commands of the National and Municipal Police of Madrid and those responsible for the Spokesperson, Security and Emergencies area - with the delegate at the helm - have participated this week in two meetings with the National Police Corps and with the Government Delegation - -including the delegate, Mercedes González, - to improve and tighten even more the coordination between the devices of both police officers for the weekend.
Inmaculada Sanz has
appealed "to the individual responsibility of citizens",
because otherwise "it will be impossible to tackle this situation."
"No matter how much reinforcement we can do, it is materially impossible to be present at the same time in all parts of the city," he explained, to then recall that "the situation of the pandemic has not ended."
It has returned to demand more agents for the Municipal Police,
because "with the current staff it is materially impossible to comply with it."
"I urgently demand once again that we be allowed to hire a staff as required by the city, because with 5,000 troops it is materially impossible," he said.
