Cairo - The

number of people infected with the Corona virus in Egypt continued to increase, according to the official figures announced, in conjunction with the escalation of the fourth wave of infection with the virus, and Egyptian officials expected to reach the peak of this wave within 10 days.

Yesterday, Wednesday, the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced the registration of 692 new cases of coronavirus and 27 deaths, compared to 688 infections and 24 deaths the previous day.

Ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed stated that the total number that was registered in Egypt with the new Corona virus - until yesterday, Wednesday - approached 299 thousand, including approximately 252 thousand cases that were cured, while the deaths exceeded 17 thousand cases.

For her part, Egyptian Minister of Health Hala Zayed said - today, Thursday - that 3.4 million people working in the Ministry of Education were vaccinated with the new Corona virus vaccine during the last period.

Despite the increase in the number of deaths on a daily basis, the minister announced - during a joint press conference with the German ambassador in Egypt - that the death rates in the fourth wave of the Corona virus pandemic are lower than those during the previous waves, and attributed this decrease to the expansion of the vaccination process, she said.

The peak of the fourth wave in 10 days

In turn, Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, the Egyptian president's advisor for health affairs, expected that the country would reach the peak of the fourth wave of the Corona pandemic within 10 days or two weeks, after which the infections would begin to decline.

Taj El-Din said - during a telephone interview with the "Today" program broadcast on the DMC channel (dmc) yesterday, Wednesday - that Egypt sought to provide the largest possible number of vaccines for citizens from different sources, and succeeded in that, he said.

The advisor to the president stressed that the rise in the number of people infected with the Corona virus that the country is witnessing requires adherence to precautionary and preventive measures, foremost of which is keenness to wear a muzzle during the current period.

New batch of corona vaccines

The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced the reception of 1.5 million doses of the “AstraZeneca” vaccine against the Corona virus, provided by the German government, out of a total of 2.3 million doses, as this took place yesterday, Wednesday, at Cairo International Airport.

The official spokesman for the ministry, Khaled Megahed, indicated that the shipment will be subject to analysis in the laboratories of the Egyptian Medicines Authority before being distributed to vaccination centers in various governorates of Egypt.

The German ambassador in Cairo, Cyril Jan Noun, said - during a press conference with the Egyptian Minister of Health today, Thursday - that Germany is striving to provide vaccines to many countries that need them, noting that it is a very difficult process, "but we are working hard to implement it, as was cooperation with the Ministry of Health."
