“We believe that the Supreme Court of Mordovia evaded the administration of justice by sending our petition to the Ministry of Justice to coordinate the issue of transferring Whelan with the competent US authorities,” the TASS defender is quoted as saying.
According to him, the complaint was sent by the defense by mail to the Fourth Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction.
On September 14, the Mordovian Armed Forces left without consideration a petition to expel Whelan to serve his sentence in the United States.
Paul Whelan is a citizen of the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Ireland.
Last summer, a court found him guilty of spying against Russia and sentenced him to 16 years in a maximum security penal colony.
