Throughout the month of September, Joanna and Daniel will only buy and eat local food.

They strive to shop as locally as possible, but they have set the limit of what can be counted as locally produced at 250 km.

- We wanted to test whether it is environmentally, temporally and generally sustainable on a daily basis.

We also hope to be able to inspire more people to use the local producers, says Joanna Kohnen.

Great interest in Småland

SVT Nyheter Småland has previously reported that there is great interest in Småland and on Öland to want to buy locally produced food.

Here, as many as 83 percent want to benefit the local, according to a survey conducted by Novus recently.

During Joanna and Daniel's September, they have noticed that many producers are not near where they live at all.

- These are basic products such as broth or oatmeal for breakfast porridge. It has been difficult to find any substitute products for rice and spaghetti, there is no Joanna Kohnen.

Costs significantly more

Joanna and Daniel have not yet made a calculation of how much they spent on food in September, but it is significantly more than if they had shopped in a regular grocery store.

According to Joanna, it is mainly dairy products, meat and certified vegetables that have cost a lot.

However, there are tricks to keep the cost down and which Joanna is happy to suggest.

Dare to try eating more vegan food.

Use a lot of beans and root vegetables that are cheap.

The forest has also given us a lot.

We have both picked a lot of berries and mushrooms.

During the challenge, they have chosen to exclude coffee, tea, salt and pepper.
