Recently, Japanese elderly care institutions and medical institutions have successively experienced group "breakthrough infections" of the new crown virus.

"Breakthrough infection" refers to the new crown virus infection that occurs after the completion of the new crown vaccination.

The government of Fukui Prefecture in Japan announced on the 22nd that 41 new cases were confirmed in the county that day, 32 of which were elderly people and staff members of an elderly care institution in Echizen City.

The Fukui prefectural government stated that these 32 infected people are all priority vaccination targets. As of June this year, two doses of vaccination have been completed.

In addition, a hospital in Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture also reported a group "breakthrough infection" incident on the 22nd. Of the 25 confirmed cases in the hospital, 24 were infected two weeks after completing two doses of vaccination.

This is the first group "breakthrough infection" incident in Gunma County. The county has asked the government to investigate the cause of the group "breakthrough infection".

Medical research shows that the elderly and those with underlying diseases are high-risk groups who "break through infection" and develop severe illness or even death.
