At the border of the new coronavirus, the government has reduced the time it takes for immigrants from countries and regions where the variant virus is spread to wait at quarantine station accommodations.

The Constitutional Democratic Party and the Communist Party are calling for a review, saying it is premature because the new influx of mutant strains could lead to the re-spreading of the infection.

As a borderline measure against mutant viruses such as the Delta strain, the government has traditionally required immigrants from countries and regions where the infection is widespread to wait up to 10 days in quarantine-controlled accommodation.

From the 20th of this week, we have designated 44 countries and regions that require priority border measures based on the current infection situation, and set the waiting period for immigrants to 3 days.

The Constitutional Democratic Party and the Communist Party have criticized that although the number of new infections in the country is declining, the new influx of mutant strains may lead to the re-spread of infection.

On top of that, it is too early to shorten the waiting period, and we will ask for a review.

Regarding the handling of the state of emergency, the opposition party said that it is necessary to thoroughly discuss infection control measures, including shortening the waiting period, regarding the government's Diet report, which is expected to be made on the 28th next week. I will continue to attend and ask for it.
