It was this weekend that a company placed hundreds of electric scooters in central Växjö, despite the municipality explicitly saying no.

Växjö municipality now believes that the activity is subject to the Public Order Act and therefore requires permission from the police.

“The municipality will now handle the electric scooters in the same way as the parking legislation.

This means that incorrectly parked electric scooters that are dangerous in traffic or are an obstacle to accessibility on, for example, footpaths will be disposed of. ”, Växjö municipality writes in a press release.

- We believe that incorrectly parked electric scooters significantly affect accessibility.

We are also obliged to take care of public places that have been littered, says Sofia Stynsberg (M), chairman of the technical committee.
