The incident took place at a restaurant in Rowlett, a town near Dallas, Texas.
The couple, parents of a four-month-old baby, had offered an outing in the company of several friends.
With their child suffering from cystic fibrosis, the two Americans have adopted the habit of wearing a mask in public in order to protect him.
